Papa's accident

My Mom called Saturday night and said my Dad (Papa) had been hurt on his bulldozer.  Evidently he lost control of it going backwards and bailed.  There is an hour unaccounted for from when the accident happened till he woke up. He then walked 1/4 mile, drove down a long driveway to my mom who was across the street.  She noticed right away (big gash on the back of his head) that he had a head injury, but he said he needed to take a shower first before he would go to the hospital as he was covered in rock and dirt.  He scrubbed his head where they later put in 5 staples to get the rock out.  At the hospital they assessed him and said he needed to be transported to a trauma hospital.  We (Torey, I and Tasja) arrived at that hospital were able to talk to him a little before they transported him.  Tasja rode the 1 hour in the ambulance with him.  They did a CT scan and more.  He broke his back in 3 places, gashed his head and had 5 staples put in, did something to his eye and needed eye stitches (maybe glasses breaking and the glass cutting his eye?), and his shoulders and upper back are so swollen he looks like the incredible hulk!  In the CT scan they also determined that he has a 3 CM mass on his lungs that most likely is cancer.  Needless to say, prayers are appreciated.  He is still at the hospital. I have been there most days and Tasja has been sleeping there.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming, "Wow, what a ride!" Author unknown

143,000,000 ORPHANS:

It is estimated that between 143,000,000 and 210,000,000 children are orphans. That’s at least 143 MILLION children in the world today. (Recent UNICEF report.)

To give you an idea of the enormity of this need, keep in mind that the approximate population of the US is 300,000,000; and the population of Russia is 141,800,000.)

There are more orphans in Sub-Sahara Africa than ALL of the children
in Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Canada, and Sweden – combined!
